Russian journalist arrested for breaking into live TV to denounce Ukraine war

Russian journalist Marina Ovsianikova, who became a well-known face after storming a live television broadcast to denounce the war in Ukraine, was arrested on Sunday in Russia, according to her lawyer and those close to her.

An official statement was not immediately issued regarding the reasons for this arrest, but it comes a few days after Ovsiannikova demonstrated alone near the Kremlin, waving a banner criticizing the military intervention in Ukraine and President Vladimir Putin.

Those close to the journalist published a message on her Telegram page saying that "Marina has been arrested. There is no information about her whereabouts," which was also confirmed by her lawyer to RIA Novosti news agency.
