In an exclusive interview with "Sanad" agency for monitoring and verification of news on Al-Jazeera network, the young man, Mulham Al-Shuwaikh, 23, recounts the details of his journey since the outbreak of the Syrian revolution, passing through his asylum in Turkey, until he reached a candidate in the Swedish Parliament.

Asylum trip

The Syrian Mulham Al-Shuwaikh was 12 years old when the revolution broke out in his country, and at that time he participated in the demonstrations that took place in his city of Manbij in the Aleppo governorate, and he was forced to leave his country with his family for Turkish lands, "as soon as there is a better change and living in a country that respects justice, equality and freedom for all sects and creeds." .

He worked in various fields for long hours in order to support himself, his mother and his younger brothers, and then he joined his father, who preceded them, to Sweden after the unification procedures were completed.

Arrival in Sweden

Al-Shuwaikh arrived in Sweden in September 2015, overcoming the challenges he faced, as he finished his secondary school studies in the scientific department in record time, and obtained an excellent grade point average that qualified him to enroll in the Faculty of Dentistry at Malmö University.

In this, the Syrian young man asserts, "It was the harsh stations of his life that refined his personality and gave him early maturity and the ability to overcome difficulties. The parliamentary candidate for the Swedish Democratic Social Party has been living with his family in the Swedish city of Alofstrom since he was 17 years old, after An asylum journey that was punctuated by many difficulties, from Syria to Turkey and then to where he currently resides.

Sharing Policy

Al-Shuwaikh holds the position of the “Sosyal” youth leadership in Blicking County, and runs the campaigns and the external department related to the party. The Syrian youth achieved these achievements a few years after he joined it with the encouragement of his father.

The Syrian immigrant was chosen as a political lecturer for the party at the level of Sweden, and is the youngest candidate for the Social Party in Blekinge County.

Al-Shuwaikh attributes this "to the confidence of senior politicians in the party, which he gained as a result of his achievements and the political, social and cultural maturity he enjoys."

The parliamentary candidate believes that the most prominent thing that Arab refugees face in Western countries, and in Sweden in particular, is the difficulty of integrating into new societies and cultures, learning the language and finding work, in addition to enjoying their full human rights.

He stressed the importance of the refugees' active participation in local and parliamentary elections in all parts of the country "in order to have an impact in society and support political parties that adopt in their policy the defense of the rights of immigrants."

He concluded by saying, "My dream is still great for the coming dawn of freedom and justice. I am waiting for it for my homeland, Syria."
