This is the first time that the former rebels of the CMA have not reaffirmed their attachment to the Algiers peace agreement: "

We are more than angry

", recognizes one of the leaders of the armed movement, which still controls the city of Kidal, in the northeast of Mali, not far from the Algerian border.

The Coordination of Azawad Movements (CMA), an alliance of Tuareg and Arab nationalist groups from the North created in 2014, then in rebellion against the central power,

then signatory of a peace agreement with Bamako in 2015

, also claims to follow with "

a lot of concern about the continued deterioration of the

socio-political situation

 " in Mali.

In its press release, the CMA "

condemns all forms of violence and terror exerted on the civilian population

 " and "

deplores the absence of an appropriate response to this dramatic situation

".

It “

notes with concern the abandonment of the implementation of the

(Algiers) Agreement

since the advent of the transition

”.

The ex-rebels are now going further, saying they reserve the right "

 to draw all the consequences

".

This means that within the CMA, the separatists are increasingly showing their muscles and suggesting that other movements slam the door of the peace process.

On the ground, the application of the peace agreement is sluggish, in particular on the aspect of "

the integration of ex-rebels within the Malian defense forces, as well as on the greater autonomy supposed to be granted to the regions

 " .

The press release was released after a meeting held on Saturday and Sunday in Kidal (North), in the presence in particular of the Malian administrative authorities and representatives of the UN Mission in Mali (Minusma).
