The mercury will (strongly) climb from Monday.

In several departments, the thermometer will easily exceed 40 degrees, which has led Météo-France to place fifteen departments on red alert.

Faced with this situation, professionals explain to Europe 1 that they are forced to adapt.

With the heat wave that is looming at the start of the week - fifteen departments are now placed on red alert - the question is how the French adapt to temperatures that exceed 40 degrees.

In Biarritz, for example, where the thermometer will show 39 degrees this Monday, restaurateurs are taking the lead and adapting their menu to offer more freshness.

Promote fresh products

Customers favor salads more since it's hot.

Then, we make new orders for fruits and vegetables which are quite substantial: melon, nectarines, avocado, we are really on fresh things, details Jennifer Maylo, the room manager of the tandem in Biarritz.

Prioritize aquatic activities

In Brittany where we expect up to 40 degrees in Pornic tomorrow, the campsite has already indicated that it would favor water activities for children: "They will do relays, a little spearfishing. We put on objects that will recover to try that get as wet as possible and then that can be in the water as much as possible so as not to be in the heat", he explains on Europe 1.

How to deal with animals?

Aquatic activities will also be on the program for animals in the Domaine de la Bourbansais, south of Saint-Malo.

A furnace for men, but also for animals.

"We are going to make different ice cubes. For the tigers, we are going to be really careful, for example, to give them meat with blood or other little things. It helps to refresh them and above all to keep them hydrated", analyzes Roxane, one of the caretakers of the park.

The caretakers of the animal park have also installed foggers for the red pandas, because the heat will not go down: 41 degrees are expected on Monday, which is the hottest day of the year at the Bourbansais estate.
