China News Service, Beijing, July 16 (Reporter Guo Chaokai) The reporter learned from the Ministry of Public Security on the 16th that since June, 17.5% of the major road traffic accidents that killed more than 3 people in the country were suspected of causing fatigue driving.

In summer, the weather is hot, days are long and nights are short, and traffic accidents caused by fatigue driving are prone to occur frequently.

At about 8:57 on July 7, Zhang, a driver from Linxian County, Shanxi Province, was driving a small off-road vehicle along National Highway 339 in Linxian from east to west to Shangchengzhuang Village, Chengzhuang Town. The wedding team mishandled the accelerator and used the accelerator as a brake, causing the vehicle to lose control and crash into the roadside crowd and parked vehicles, resulting in 5 deaths and 6 injuries.

According to preliminary investigations, the driver, Mr. Zhang, drove about 670 kilometers to and from Linxian and Wutai Mountain in the nearly 21 hours before the incident, and the accumulated rest time during this period was less than 4 and a half hours.

The Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security reminds the majority of drivers: Fatigue driving is easy to cause accidents. Before driving, you should ensure adequate rest and sleep, arrange travel time reasonably, and try to avoid driving at night, afternoon and other times when you are prone to fatigue and sleepiness.

On the way of driving, you should stop for at least 20 minutes in a safe place after driving for 4 consecutive hours. If you feel tired and sleepy, you should take a rest in time.

For long-distance driving, if there are other people in the same car who can drive with a driver's license, it is best to drive in turns.
