Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Jae-myung officially announces his candidacy for the party's representative election today (17th).

Rep. Jae-myung Lee held a press conference at the National Assembly at 2 pm today and announced that he would challenge the party at the Democratic National Convention scheduled for August.

In his candidacy, he plans to include a message related to people's livelihood and political reform, which Rep. Lee has been emphasizing since the days of his presidential candidacy.

It is known that a message emphasizing unity will also be included, as some plosives within the party have also erupted over Rep. Lee's challenge to the party.

Rep. Lee met with reporters on the 15th and said, "The suffering of the people is getting deeper and deeper, but I think our politics is too engrossed in politics. I thought it would,” he said.

Seol-hoon Seol-hoon, a 5th-term lawmaker who has strongly demanded that Rep. Lee not run at the National Convention, announces his candidacy as party leader at 3 pm, an hour after he announced his candidacy.

From today to tomorrow (18th), the Democratic Party accepts registration of party representatives and supreme member candidates.

A total of 9 candidates have officially declared or announced their candidacy so far.

On the 28th, the Democratic Party will select three party representative finalists through a primary primary.
