A joint statement by the Gulf Cooperation Council and the United States of America

The joint statement of the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and the United States of America was issued today, the text of which follows:

1- At the kind invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the leaders of the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and the United States of America met today in Jeddah, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The leaders recalled the previous Gulf-US summits held at Camp David on May 14, 2015, in Riyadh on April 21, 2016, and in Riyadh on May 21, 2017.

3- In this context, the United States of America welcomed the decision of the Arab Coordination Group, which includes ten national, Arab and specialized development financing institutions, to provide an amount of no less than $10 billion, for the purpose of responding to regional and international food security challenges, in accordance with the objectives of the (road map for food security). The leaders also welcomed the announcement by the United States of America to provide an additional $1 billion in support to meet the urgent short- and long-term food security needs of the Middle East and North Africa region.

4 - The leaders commended the ongoing efforts of (OPEC +) to stabilize global oil markets, in a manner that serves the interests of producers and consumers, and supports economic growth. The leaders welcomed the recent decision of (OPEC +) members to increase production for the months of July and August, and expressed their appreciation for the leadership role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia In achieving consensus among the countries (OPEC +).

5- President Biden welcomed the announcement by a number of partners from the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf of their plans to invest a total of $3 billion in projects consistent with the objectives of the Global Partnership for Investment and Infrastructure Initiative announced by the United States, in order to invest in major infrastructure in low and medium-sized countries. Income, including investing in projects that advance energy security, climate, digital connectivity, and diversification of global supply chains.

6- President Biden expressed his appreciation for the donation of $100 million by the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf to support the East Jerusalem Hospital Network, which provides essential and life-saving health care to Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem.

7- The leaders affirmed their joint commitment to preserving the security and stability of the region and supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at calming regional tensions, deepening their regional defense, security and intelligence cooperation, and ensuring the freedom and security of maritime navigation lanes.. 9- The leaders praised the existing cooperation between the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and the United States of America in supporting the security and stability of the region and its sea lanes, and affirmed their determination to develop cooperation and coordination between their countries in order to develop joint defense and deterrence capabilities against the increasing risks of the proliferation of unmanned aircraft systems and Winged missiles, and arming terrorist militias and armed groups, including what contradicts Security Council resolutions.

10 - The leaders discussed ways to intensify joint cooperation in order to enhance deterrence and defense capabilities of the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and to develop integration and integration in the fields of air and missile defense, maritime security capabilities, early warning systems and information exchange.

11- The leaders welcomed the establishment of (Joint Task Force 153) and (Joint Task Force 59), which enhance partnership and defense coordination between the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and the US Central Command, in a way that supports monitoring of maritime threats and develops maritime defenses by employing the latest systems and technologies.

12- The leaders affirmed their keenness to continue holding the Gulf-US summits annually.
