This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the Oliy Majlis (upper house of the parliament of Uzbekistan).

It is noted that the commission was created due to the appeal of the Ombudsman Feruza Eshmatova on the issue of ensuring human rights and freedoms in Karakalpakstan.

The commission, led by Eshmatova, included representatives of the parliament and non-governmental and public organizations.

The results of the investigation are expected to be made public.

Earlier, the Uzbek authorities reduced the curfew in Karakalpakstan.

In early July, it was reported that police had to be called in Karakalpakstan due to a protest demonstration in Nukus.
