This year alone, Uppsala resident Teresia Propst has several times sought care for her one-year-old daughter Helga at the University Children's Hospital in Uppsala.

And they are not alone.

According to Åsa Neuman, between 50 and 80 children are cared for every day, which is an unusual number during the summer season, something that P4 Uppland was the first to report on.

- Children born during the pandemic have not been as exposed to viruses.

Now all these infections get at the same time, says Åsa Neuman.

Called in staff

The high pressure has led to the need to staff the children's hospital.

- Several have had to postpone their holidays and the varying figures make it difficult to plan.

But I hope that we can manage in the coming weeks without having to call in too many staff, says Åsa Neuman.

In the clip, Åsa Neuman talks about the parents' unfamiliarity that has arisen.
