The festival, which started in the late 80s with a small stage on a truck bed, is now celebrating 35 years with artists such as Europe, Molly Sandén and Måns Zelmerlöw.

Ideal forces

On Thursday, the final preparations were in full swing.

About 600 officials are involved to build, put in order and keep the three-day festival going.

Among the non-profit volunteers are both old foxes and new festival workers.

Vilma Thorén and Elma Bergdahl are working at the festival for the first time and are looking forward to the festival bubble.

- Just have fun and not think about so much else.

Have a good time, says Vilma Thorén.

Hoping for island

22-year-old Johan Hansson has been hanging out at the festival since he was 15, and has had time to work his way through the various chores.

He himself will perform as a singer in one of the bands.

- This will be the third time we are on stage here.

It feels like playing at home, says Johan Hansson who hopes for nice weather and a lot of island.

The organizer expects about 18,000 visitors.

Festival general Filip Ostrell feels a little nervous but also pissed.

- When the pandemic came and we had to change, it was tough.

The second year was terrible.

It feels almost unreal that we can run a festival again, but now we are here and it feels fantastic, he says.
