Inflation in Sweden continues to tick upwards.

In June, the inflation rate according to the consumer price index, ie the change from the same month last year, landed at 8.5 per cent, according to Statistics Sweden's latest figures presented on Thursday morning.

In May, inflation rose to a new record high of 7.2 percent, reaching its highest level in 30 years.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine, rising energy prices and high commodity prices were then said to be behind it.

Thursday's announcement thus means a new high listing.

- Price increases for food, electricity and fuel were what affected inflation the most, says Sofie Öhman, price statistician at Statistics Sweden, in a press release.
