[Explanation] Recently, a reporter from China News Agency learned from the Purple Mountain Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences that China's first comprehensive dedicated solar exploration satellite, the Advanced Space-Based Solar Observatory (ASO-S), was independently proposed by Chinese solar physicists. It will be launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in October 2022.

Now open to the whole world to call for satellite names.

[Explanation] It is reported that this 888-kilogram satellite, which operates in a sun-synchronous orbit at a height of 720 kilometers above the earth's surface, uses an all-solar vector magnetic imager, the Lyman Alpha Solar Telescope, and a solar hard X-ray imager. .

The scientific research team of the Purple Mountain Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences said that using the opportunity of the 25th cycle peak year of solar activity, the satellite will simultaneously carry out the two most violent eruptions on the sun-solar flares and coronal mass ejections, as well as the full-solar vector magnetic field. observation.

This space science satellite was deployed and developed by the Space Science (Phase II) pilot project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It will be launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in October 2022 to start a journey of exploration of the sun.

This also means that new members will soon join the "big family" of China's space science satellite series such as "Wukong", "Shi Shi No. 10" and "Mozi".

[Explanation] For this reason, the Purple Mountain Observatory is now giving the ASO-S satellite a Chinese nickname to global netizens, overseas Chinese, and domestic astronomy enthusiasts.

Requirements for naming names: avoid duplication of existing satellite names; highly fit the scientific goals of ASO-S satellites, with concise text, easy to remember, and easy to disseminate; rich in scientific and cultural connotations, showing the Chinese spirit of scientific exploration and cultural confidence; The proposal should contain no less than 15 words and no more than 200 words for the definition of the name.

In this regard, many astronomy enthusiasts also expressed their thoughts.

  [Concurrent] Astronomy enthusiast Wang Letao

I think "Golden Crow" is a good name, and I hope it's also a good moral for our detectors.

It is hoped that it will reveal the surface structure of the sun in the shortest time, as well as other measurement data, etc., and bring certain progress to our scientific work.

[Concurrent] Mr. Liao, an astronomy enthusiast

I think the word "kuafu" can be used for this. It reflects our Chinese nation's spirit of exploring the unknown and a spirit of perseverance.

Good luck to it and complete the task.

[Concurrent] Xu Jun, Secretary General of Nanjing Astronomy Enthusiasts Association

I think if this satellite is named, I am more inclined to "Kuafu". "Kuafu" itself has three forms in "Shan Hai Jing", and this satellite is also equipped with three instruments. "Father" also represents the heroic spirit of moving forward bravely and not being afraid of difficulties, which I think is more appropriate.
