The Kremlin expressed the hope that Saudi Arabia would not take action against Russia.

This was stated in an interview with reporters by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the visit of US President Joe Biden to Saudi Arabia.

Peskov was asked whether US "oil diplomacy" poses a threat to Russian energy exports.

“Of course, we hope that the building of relations and the development of relations between Riyadh and other world capitals will in no way be directed against us,” the press secretary of the Russian president replied.

“We highly appreciate the work that we manage to do with our partners, including with leading partners such as Saudi Arabia,” he stressed.

As Peskov recalled, Russia is within the framework of the OPEC + agreements.

“We highly value our interests, our relationship and our interaction with Riyadh,” he concluded.

Recall that the White House in mid-June announced Biden's Middle East trip.

During visits scheduled for July 13-16, the US leader will visit Israel, the West Bank and Saudi Arabia.

The American media reported on Biden's upcoming trip shortly before the official announcement.

As The New York Times wrote in early June, the US president intends to meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

One of the goals of the meeting, according to the publication, is Biden's desire to reduce energy prices within the United States, while maintaining Russia's "isolation" in the international arena.

At the end of June, Biden announced that he intended to call on all countries in the Persian Gulf to increase oil production.

According to him, he intends to convey the idea that "a joint increase in oil production is necessary."

Later, Biden himself, in a column for The Washington Post, spoke about the reasons for his upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia.

Among other things, in the material, the US President said that the energy resources of the Middle East are "vital" to mitigate the impact of events in Ukraine on the global energy supply chain.

A number of American media are of the opinion that Biden's visit to Saudi Arabia will not help reduce record-breaking gasoline prices in the United States.

A Politico article published on the subject states that Saudi Arabia has no excess oil to divert to other markets.

In addition, as journalists write, the very prospect of Riyadh saturating the world market with oil does not mean that gasoline prices in the United States will fall.

Commenting on the intentions of the head of the White House, Dmitry Belik, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, noted that the United States is too zealously planting "democracy" around the world, including oil.

“Sane states that do not want to act according to the US manuals are set for constructive interaction and partnership with Russia,” Belik said in an interview with RT.

In turn, the deputy director of the Institute for Strategic Studies and Forecasts of the RUDN University, a member of the political council of the MGER Victoria Fedosova drew attention to the unprofitable position in which Washington found itself.

In this regard, she recalled Biden's campaign intentions to make Saudi Arabia a "rogue state", as well as the confrontational rhetoric of the current White House administration, which began with the assassination of The Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018.

“In any case, the hegemon turned out to be in the position of a beggar, and the situation is all the more difficult against the background of how the United States was going to turn Saudi Arabia into a “rogue state” after the assassination of Khashoggi and naming the street near the embassy of the kingdom in the United States after him, the systematic pedaling of the topic of protecting the rights of LGBT and their oppression in Saudi Arabia, ”Fedosova said in an interview with RT.
