• Wednesday and Thursday will be the July 14 festivities in normal mode after two years of Covid-19.

  • In the Lille metropolis, many events are organized, balls, fireworks and concerts.

  • 20 Minutes

has concocted a small selection of events for you to occupy these two days of National Day.

Ahead of the Fête de la Musique, we pulled our tongues out a bit to find you things to do in Lille because of the municipal decree prohibiting amplified music on public roads.

There will be nothing like this on the National Day, Thursday, and that's good.

Suddenly,

20 Minutes

went around what was organized in Lille and in the metropolis and gives you a small family program to occupy your July 14th.

For firecracker addicts

Who says July 14, says fireworks, that's the basis.

So of course, there will be some more spectacular than others depending on the means allocated by the municipalities, but isn't it the intention that counts?

Lille will obviously have its own, drawn at 11 p.m. on July 14, on the Champ de Mars esplanade, with the challenge of doing better than that organized for the opening parade of Utopia.

The same day at the same time, why not escape the crowds of Lille and go to Tourcoing?

The municipality, in addition to offering its own fireworks, decided to mix the pyrotechnic side with video mapping on the facade of the Saint-Christophe church.

If you like fireworks that much, you can make a combo, some municipalities organize theirs the day before.

In Lambersart, for example, the rockets will be fired from the Deûle canal, Wednesday, from 10:30 p.m.

Give me balls

The second unmissable event on July 14 is the popular ball.

Finally the balls, because there will be them everywhere.

In Lille alone, on Wednesday evening, almost every district will have its own.

Nevertheless, the most popular remains the "pop ball" of Vieux-Lille which celebrates its 21st anniversary this year.

It will be held, with amplified music, from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., place Jacques-Louchart.

If the entrance is free, the places will be expensive if you arrive too late.

If you are turned away from Vieux-Lille for lack of space, go to Marquette-lez-Lille.

The National Day ball is organized there in the bucolic setting of the Domaine du Vert-Bois from 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

On the program, fairground games, a concert by the Raoul Band and fireworks.

The only requirement to enter: respect the blue-white-red dress code.

The municipality specifies that an accessory may suffice.

14th of July stars

The concerts organized for the National Day are an opportunity to see freebies of former glories of the 1980s and the forgotten telecrochets.

Wednesday evening, the metropolis will not escape the rule.

La Madeleine still offers a performance by Jérémy Frérot, ex Frérot-Delavega.

In Loos, we can see Michal (

Star Academy

) and the group Collectif Métissé.

In Marly, the unmissable Émile & Images.

A little further, outside the metropolis, Saint-Amand strikes the hardest with, among others, Lio, Bibie, À Cause des Garçons, David and Jonathan, Jean Schultheis... On the other hand, if you want to see Gilbert Montagné, it will be necessary to push to Wallers-Aremberg.

There will be more classic too, including a concert by the Municipal Harmony of Lille-Centre, Thursday from 4 p.m. at Gare Saint-Sauveur.

Thursday, at 3:30 p.m., for the French National Day, the Belgian border town of Tournai is organizing a “special blue-white-red” carillon concert with the interpretation of many pieces, including

La Marseillaise

.

On another type of music, you can attend the traditional military parade which will take place on Thursday morning, at 10:30 am, on the Boulevard de la Liberté in Lille.

No military parade in Cambrai, but the city has the luxury of an overflight, Thursday around 11:10 a.m., by a Rafale patrol returning from the Parisian parade.
