A summit between Putin, my president and Erdogan on Syria July 19

Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with his Turkish counterparts Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iranian Ibrahim Raisi in Tehran next week as part of a summit dealing with the Syrian file, which will include bilateral Russian-Turkish talks, according to what the Kremlin announced.

"Preparations are underway for President Putin's visit to Tehran on July 19," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, noting that he would discuss the Syrian file with his Iranian and Turkish counterparts.

Russia, Turkey and Iran have been holding talks for several years on the situation in Syria as part of the so-called "Astana peace process" aimed at ending the bloody conflict that erupted 11 years ago in Syria.

This will be Putin's second visit abroad since he sent his forces to Ukraine in late February, after he visited Tajikistan in late June.

The Kremlin said Putin would hold separate talks with Erdogan in Tehran, without providing further details.

For months, the Turkish president has offered to meet Putin, at a time when Ankara is trying to play the role of mediator between Russia and Ukraine.
