Putin conferred the honorary title of Guards on two brigades of the Russian Armed Forces

The relevant decrees are published on the official portal of legal information.

“Assign the honorary name “Guards” to the 17th Army Aviation Brigade and continue to call it: the 17th Guards Army Aviation Brigade,” the document says.

By another decree, the name "Guards" was assigned to the 2nd Separate Order of Zhukov Special Forces Brigade.

It is noted that the honorary title is awarded for mass heroism and courage, fortitude and courage shown by personnel in military operations to protect the Fatherland and state interests in armed conflicts.

Earlier, Putin awarded the 24th separate special-purpose brigade the title of guards.

He also signed a decree conferring the title of Hero of Russia on Colonel General Alexander Lapin and Major General Esedulla Abachev.
