The liter of diesel was worth an average of 1.9946 euros last week, down nearly seven cents from the previous week, said the Ministry of Energy Transition, which stops these figures on Friday.

This fuel had reached its peak this year at 2.1407 euros in mid-March.

The super unleaded 95-E10 also fell below the two euro threshold, reaching 1.9820 euro on average (-4.68 cents).

Same trend for the liter of SP 95 unleaded gasoline, down 5.34 cents, but which remained above two euros, at 2.0823 euros on average.

These high prices take into account the government rebate of 18 cents per liter at the pump (in mainland France), which should gradually disappear by the end of the year and be replaced on 1 October by a more targeted allowance, for low-income workers and high-speed commuters.

They are part of a context of general soaring energy prices, against a backdrop of post-Covid recovery, the war in Ukraine and supply difficulties.
