[Commentary] On July 9th, the 2022 "Osmanthus Cup" Guangxi (Nanning)-Taiwan (Hualien) Slingshot Exchange Competition will be held online at the Ethnic Village of Guangxi Museum of Nationalities and the Dexing Stadium in Hualien County, Taiwan. Local players participate in the exchange competition.
Fu Kunqi, member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Nationalist Party, representative of Taiwan public opinion, and former county head of Hualien County, also appeared at the opening ceremony in Hualien to greet the participating folks on both sides of the strait.
He said that he was very happy to gather with many sports enthusiasts in the "Osmanthus Cup" slingshot exchange competition, and he was also eager to try his skills at the end of the field.

At present, although due to the relationship between the epidemic, COVID-19 (new crown epidemic) has made it impossible for us to communicate, I believe that there will be opportunities in the future, and everyone will start the peaceful development and exchange of the entire cross-strait. [Explanation] The slingshot sport is suitable for men and women of all ages. It is gradually emerging in Taiwan, especially in Hualien County, and Guangxi has already carried out the inheritance of slingshot skills.
The event attracted the active participation of slingshot enthusiasts on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. The number of applicants from Guangxi exceeded 100, and the number of applicants from Taiwan was nearly 100.
After layers of selection, 8 players from both Guitai and Taiwan formed teams to compete online one by one.
[Explanation] After fierce competition, the Guangxi Nanning team won the championship with 111 points, and the Taiwan Hualien team won the runner-up with 75 points.

Taiwan is raising the enthusiasm for slingshots, and their players have made great progress. They are holding many events every month, and their players are also growing. I also hope that our compatriots in Taiwan can come to the mainland as soon as possible to have face-to-face exchanges with us. I also hope that our ties in slingshots will be closer, so that slingshots can become a bridge for communication between the straits.
[Commentary] Wang Shunwei, President of Guangxi Folk Culture Association, said that Guangxi and Taiwan have close exchanges, and the competition innovatively adopts online communication, which shows the urgency of the villagers in the two places to communicate, and also shows the ingenuity of the villagers in the two places to break through obstacles.
He hoped that the compatriots in Guangxi and Taiwan will jointly improve the level of folk sports competition, deepen and expand the field of folk cultural exchanges, continuously enhance the emotional friendship between the two ethnic groups, join hands to inherit the excellent traditional Chinese culture, and write a new chapter for the peaceful development and integrated development of cross-strait relations together.
