An 82-year-old woman was found dead this afternoon, while her 78-year-old husband was rescued unconscious and in a very serious condition
in an individual chalet on Calle Antonio Machado, 42, in Torres de la Alameda (Madrid).
The first investigations indicate that there was a gas leak in the house, according to 112.
According to the Community of Madrid Emergencies, the first notice of the incident was received around four in the afternoon.
A son of the
couple, 38 years old, went to the home, since his parents had not answered the phone all day.
Upon entering the house there was a strong smell of gas and his parents were unconscious in bed.
The Summa confirmed the
death of the 82-year-old woman and transferred her 79-year-old husband in a very serious condition to the Prince of Asturias Hospital in Alcalá de Henares due to gas inhalation.
The couple's son has also been taken to hospital because he inhaled gas during his stay at home.
Upon reaching the chalet, firefighters evacuated the victims, cut off the gas and ventilated the house.
The Civil Guard investigates the case and tries to find out the cause of the escape.
