This was announced by Semenov's lawyer Mikhail Krylov.

“I filed an appeal against the decision to detain my client Semyonov,” TASS quoted Krylov as saying.

He specified that Semyonov had been charged with abuse of power before his arrest.

On July 6, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the arrest of Semyonov, assistant to the head of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Sergei Umnov, and the former deputy head of the St. Petersburg Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ivan Abakumov.

Umnov was later arrested and appealed against his arrest.
