According to the Swedish Public Health Agency, the number of confirmed cases of covid-19 continues to increase.

Right now, the sub-variant of Omikron, "BA.5", is the dominant variant.

But despite the fact that disease cases are now increasing again, it has not yet made a major impression in healthcare.

How many are cared for varies somewhat from day to day, but during week 27 there were about 20 patients who were cared for with covid-19 at Östergötland Hospital.

Vaccination against the disease continues in the county - but right now few people get vaccinated.

- We have good vaccination coverage in the region.

Now 70 percent of those over the age of 18 have taken their dose three.

But the interest in getting vaccinated now is not at all as great as when there was high pressure on us.

But there will be people who want to get doses, says Kerstin Jonsson who is the vaccine coordinator at Region Östergötland.

Refill dose in autumn

The Swedish Public Health Agency has issued a recommendation that everyone over the age of 18 should be offered a refill dose of covid-19 vaccine this autumn.

The three large vaccination centers in Östergötland in Motala, Linköping and Norrköping are still in use and this autumn the operations will be scaled up again.

- They are still there and we will increase the resources there so we can receive more people, says Kersin Jonsson.

On the first of September, work begins on the refill doses.

First out are people who live in special housing and then the region will call the East Goths in order of age.

In the clip, Kerstin Jonsson tells more about how it will go this autumn.
