In the appeal, the legislator noted that with the onset of the heat wave, representatives of the medical community traditionally advise citizens to increase the consumption of ordinary drinking water.

Currently, there is a list of socially significant goods for which a preferential rate of 10% value added tax (VAT) has been established in order to reduce retail prices for buyers.

At the same time, as he noted, a standard rate of 20% applies to bottled drinking water (with the exception of children's drinking water), as well as for sugar-containing drinks, which can even be harmful to health and the consumption of which the medical community strongly recommends to reduce.

“In this regard, I ask you to consider the advisability of including bottled drinking water in the list of goods for which a preferential 10% VAT rate is applied, which will increase the availability of these products for consumers,” the text of the appeal says.

Earlier, State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev proposed limiting the sale of strong alcohol in coastal and park areas in the summer.
