“The new anti-Russian attack of the Trudeau regime once again confirms the impotence of official Ottawa ... Such undisguised censorship and restriction of freedom of speech again emphasize the totalitarian essence of Canadian quasi-democracy,” RIA Novosti reported.

The embassy noted that restrictions against media representatives demonstrate to the whole world that Canada does not want and is afraid to hear the truth about the situation in Ukraine and around it.

Diplomats also criticized the inclusion of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia on the sanctions list.

“This is a blasphemous act against the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church... After that, Canada has no moral right to be considered a country where the rights of all faiths are respected.

Russia’s response to such rudeness and obscurantism will be adequate and will not take long,” the embassy concluded.

Earlier, the Canadian government announced new sanctions against Russia, which are designed to "put further pressure" on the Russian authorities.

At the end of April, the Russian Foreign Ministry published a list of names of 592 Canadian citizens who were banned from entering Russia on a permanent basis.

Russia also imposed sanctions on Sophie, wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Russian Ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov said that relations between Moscow and Ottawa have become "politically virtual", having lost the content in the form of economic, humanitarian or academic contacts.
