Russia blocked UN resolution on extending the work of the checkpoint on the border of Turkey and the SAR

As Russian Deputy Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky explained, the resolution prepared by the West ignored the interests of Damascus, TASS reports.

He also said that Western countries lacked the diplomatic art and desire to negotiate on the relevant UN Security Council resolution.

In July 2021, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution on the extension of the cross-border assistance mechanism in Syria, which was jointly prepared by Russia, the United States, Ireland and Norway.
