Although the controversy over the suspension of concerts in the Plaza del Rey during the LGTBI Pride celebration has already been resolved,

the Madrid City Council and the organizers have found a point of agreement to relocate these performances

: it will be Barceló street, specifically the Gardens of the Architect Ribera, who will host the new scenarios.

This was stated by the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, at the press conference after the Governing Board, pointing out that the councilor for the Central district, José Fernández, would sign the authorization to be able to celebrate them "throughout the morning".

However, the concerts scheduled for last night were relocated to other spaces such as Plaza Pedro Zerolo.

But

starting tomorrow, Friday, Barceló will be the place for them

and Sweet California, Cariño, Black Panda, María Pelaé, Miss Bolivia and Alba Reche will be there.

“We already informed the organizers last Friday that concerts could not be held in the Plaza del Rey,” said Almeida, who pointed out as a “show of commitment” from the City Council that “in just 24 hours” the new authorization would be processed.

"The formal request was on Tuesday afternoon and throughout Wednesday we collected all the reports

," added the alderman.

However, the announcement of the suspension of the concerts by the organizers of MADO occurred on Tuesday night.

A situation that has been seen as an element of pressure by some members of the municipal government in view of the

latest friction that has occurred between both parties.

In fact, during the celebration of the Proclamation last Wednesday, there were some

chants and disqualifications towards the mayor from the stage

and from the Plaza de Pedro Zerolo.

«Insult is never the best way and less so when it is done from a stage that, if you observe, had two very large shields, about three meters long, of the Madrid City Council.

It seems difficult to me to say that I intend to sabotage pride when these disqualifications are made from a Madrid City Hall stage, ”the mayor replied when asked.

Precisely at that proclamation were two PP councilors, Andrea Levy and José Fernández, as well as representatives of the rest of the political groups -PSOE, Ciudadanos, Más Madrid and Recupera Madrid- with the exception of Ciudadanos.

Its leader and deputy mayor,

Begoña Villacís, was already absent yesterday from the press conference after the Governing Board for "health reasons",

but on Wednesday there was no representation of her party at an event that the orange formation wanted to take the reins of the organization from the first moment after two years of hiatus.
