Motorist charged after cyclist's death

On June 22, an 84-year-old cyclist died in Porte-de-Savoie (Savoie).

The man was found in cardiac arrest on the side of a road.

Despite the intervention of motorists and emergency services, he could not be saved.

Investigators found debris from the vehicle.

The track of an accident followed by a hit and run had therefore been privileged.

The suspect charged

Thanks to the analysis of the debris and images from the CCTV cameras, the gendarmes were able to trace the suspect, who was arrested at his place of work.

He was taken into police custody and then charged with manslaughter, hit and run and failure to assist a person in danger.

The young man, aged 24, was released under judicial supervision.

The investigation is continuing.
