A man died on Thursday in Grenoble after being shot by the police, we learned from the Grenoble prosecutor's office.

According to information from the Dauphiné liberated, the man was armed and was riding a scooter with another individual.

He was shot dead around 6 p.m. by a police officer from the anti-crime brigade (BAC) on Place d'April, in front of a post office, in the city center.

The area was then completely cordoned off.

A security cordon was stretched and a few dozen residents and passers-by kept at a safe distance by many police officers, noted an AFP journalist on the spot.

The Grenoble prosecutor's office was to provide more details on the circumstances of this death in the evening.
