It was in mid-March this year that a 90-year-old woman was found dead with stab wounds in her home in Helsingborg.

- It was discovered when the home service came to the scene and found her dead in her home, says Kristin Vernet, prosecutor.

Shortly afterwards, a woman in her 60s was arrested.

- She was a neighbor and the suspicions were directed at her, perhaps directly based on her behavior on the spot and her knowledge that something had happened and that the plaintiff was dead, says Kristin Vernet, prosecutor.

Withdrew money from the woman's bank card

The woman is now being prosecuted at Helsingborg District Court on suspicion of murder.

The woman is also charged with two counts of fraud for taking the plaintiff's ATM card and taking out a total of SEK 15,000 for herself a few days before the murder.

An interrogation of witnesses shows that the accused woman must have had the impression that the older woman would bequeath property to her.

- They have been friends and the suspect has helped the plaintiff with various things, the prosecutor says.

What has been the woman's motive?

- It has not been fully clarified yet, however, we have during the investigation understood that the suspect has been financially pressured and that she has a problem with mental illness.

Is there DNA on the murder weapon?

What evidence do you have?

- There is good technical evidence.

The suspected murder weapon has been found in the suspect and there is DNA evidence.

During the trial, a witness must also be heard that the woman must have had access to poisonous seeds.

Analysis results of the National Forensic Center have also been made of pancakes in order to prove that it can not be ruled out that there was poison in the food the defendant prepared for the elderly woman.

However, this is not something the prosecutor links to the murder.

- There is no suspicion that this is the way she has deprived her of her life and I do not want to go into it further.

It must appear during the main hearing, says Kristin Vernet.

The woman denies the crime.
