During Tuesday's closing argument in the high-profile trial where a 44-year-old man was charged with murder of Malin Lindström in Husum in 1996, the prosecutor demanded at least six years in prison.

At the same time, the defendant's defense counsel Ulf Holst claimed that his client should be acquitted and immediately released.

The man was previously convicted of the murder, but was acquitted in the Court of Appeal and there the case has now been taken up once again.

The court ruled that the man should remain in custody until the verdict falls on July 19.

- The defense counsel can try to appeal to the Supreme Court and request leave to appeal there.

The question is whether he will get the case up, says Christian Dahlman who is a professor of law at Lund University, where his area of expertise is evaluation of evidence in criminal cases.

Hear him clarify what applies if the verdict is appealed to the Supreme Court in the video.
