This was reported by the press service of the Kremlin.

The conversation took place on the initiative of the Sri Lankan side.

“Topical issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation were considered, in particular, in the energy, agricultural and transport fields,” the Kremlin said.

In the context of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which is being celebrated in 2022, the leaders reaffirmed their mutual commitment to the further progressive development of traditionally friendly relations between Russia and Sri Lanka.

They also agreed to continue contacts at various levels.

Earlier, Rajapaksa said that during a telephone conversation with the Russian leader, he asked for credit support for fuel imports to Sri Lanka and the resumption of Aeroflot flights to his country.
