It is time for continuity in European bodies.

While Paris has had to review the agenda of its presidency of the Council, following the outbreak of war in Ukraine on 24 February last, the Czech presidency will have to manage the various crises which are now affecting the European Union.

But the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola assured him to give him all her confidence.

With an illegal and brutal war on our continent, the Czech Presidency comes at a very important time,

" she said.

And our next steps will be decisive for the future of our Union.

We must continue to support Ukraine

.

We must continue to defend our values and the rules-based global order.

And that's why our unity is so important.

 »

And for this presidency to be a real success, Petr Fiala, the Czech Prime Minister, has set five priorities.

We want to focus on the management of the refugee crisis and Ukraine's post-war recovery, energy security, strengthening Europe's defense capabilities and cyberspace security strategy, the resilience of the European economy and finally, the resilience of democratic institutions.

The coming months promise to be complicated for the member countries of the European Union.

Because to all these crises is added

galloping inflation and, soon, a food crisis
