Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne is currently delivering her general policy speech to the Assembly.

An almost obligatory passage for each head of a new government.

In the preamble, Elisabeth Borne addressed the opposition, calling on them to "build together" "compromises".

The Prime Minister assured that she wanted to carry out "a dense consultation for each subject".

"We will approach each text in a spirit of dialogue, compromise and openness", she insisted, calling for building "project majorities".

Sometimes applauded, sometimes heckled, she then raised the issue of unemployment, affirming that "full employment is within our reach", saying that she had "the deep conviction" that France "can break out of the vicious circle of mass unemployment".

On the sensitive issue of the legal retirement age, which Emmanuel Macron wishes to push back to 65, she considered it necessary to have to "work gradually a little longer".
