“It is with deep regret that we resign from our positions as members of the government ... In good faith, we ask you, for the good of the party and the country, to resign,” UK Industry Secretary Lee Rowley posted a document on Twitter.

Minister for Equality and Local Government Kemi Badenoch and Minister for Media, Information and Digital Infrastructure Julia Lopez also resigned.

The document was signed by Education Minister Alex Burgart and Housing Minister Neil O'Brien.

Earlier it became known that British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak and his colleague, Health Minister Sajid Javid, resigned.

Johnson, in turn, said that the government should not resign during a crisis.
