Between 2-3 September this year, it's time for Kalmar's pride parade.

Friday will offer several seminars, and the parade will end in the main square in Kalmar on Saturday.

It was in the spring that the parade's previous organizers announced that they were closing down due to lack of commitment.

Now the baton has been taken over by Stadsmissionen and Kalmar city who have joined forces as new organizers.

-It will be a big folk festival.

We hope that there will be at least 5,000 visitors, says Jens Bergzén, friend company manager at Kalmar City Mission.

Close to not getting rid of

About a month ago, there were no plans to organize a pride parade.

The idea was raised when Jens Bergzén at the city mission in Kalmar was looking for events to arrange.

Then Lisa Söderholm, CEO of Kalmar city, came up with the idea of collaborating and recreating Kalmar Pride.

- It has gone fast, that is partly why we have a shorter schedule this year, says Lisa Söderholm.

Security arrangements

In addition to the police who attend the event, the organizers have appointed a security officer.

A precaution that is not uncommon at large events.

- Considering what happened in Oslo a few weeks ago, you need to bring it with you, says Lisa Söderholm.

However, both are clear that there is currently no threat against Kalmar Pride.
