It was almost a month ago that Torvald Hurula from Korpilombolo was ready to have surgery for his colon cancer at Sunderby Hospital.

But when Hurula was ready with the needle inserted, the operation was canceled and he was sent home without a new appointment.

The only thing that was clear was that the operation will instead take place at Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm because the Norrbotten care is severely strained.

Landed in Stockholm for surgery

After living in uncertainty, Torvald Hurula had to fly down to Stockholm on Wednesday to have surgery.

He is one of 190 patients from Norrbotten who will have to make this trip this summer.

- It feels good, there is only the rest left now, says Hurula.
