According to him, the “use it or lose it” principle was introduced in Austria, according to which “the gas storage must be used for its intended purpose”, otherwise the operator will lose it and the facility will be transferred to another party.

“The gas storage in Haidach in Austria has not yet been filled, so now it will be transferred to other companies to fill with gas,” TASS quoted him as saying.

He added that Austria intends to use this gas storage facility in the future.

In early June, a representative of the Austrian oil and gas company OMV announced that it had made a payment for Russian gas under a new scheme.
