NASA lost contact with a $32.7 million satellite on July 5.
The satellite was on its way to the moon at the time of the incident, on a mission to test its orbit around the moon.
NASA issued a statement saying that the missing satellite was the "Earth-Moon Autonomous Positioning System Technology Operation and Navigation Experiment" (CAPESTONE) satellite.
