US State Department: Washington is waiting for a reason from Russia for a meeting between Lavrov and Blinken

“We would like Russia to provide an excuse for a bilateral meeting with Minister Lavrov,” a department spokesman said during a telephone briefing.

His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

State Department spokesman Ned Price said that the United States believes that the time for a meeting between Lavrov and Blinken on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers Summit, which will be held this week in Indonesia, is not appropriate.

The Russian Foreign Ministry previously noted that a meeting between Sergey Lavrov and Anthony Blinken on the fields of the G20 in Indonesia in early July is not planned.

Lavrov will take part in the meeting of the G20 foreign ministers on July 7-8.
