Monica Risenius, CEO of the tourist organization Kiruna Lapland, talks about the tough situation:

- Right now there are no flights from SAS and that means an uncertainty about how long this will last.

We get a lot of calls from tourists who ask themselves if they should rethink completely this summer.

We also generally have longer stays during the summer and July is our busiest month.

Large loss of revenue

She estimates that the loss of income is between SEK 1,500-2,000 per visitor and night just during the stay.

The sum is calculated on housing, food and activities.

- We should also not forget that it is an incredible pity for all our visitors who have planned for a long time to come here and look forward to experiencing Kiruna.
