The leaders of both countries also discussed topical issues related to the trade and economic sphere.
“The mutual intention to further strengthen the Russian-Uzbek strategic partnership and alliance was confirmed.
A schedule of upcoming contacts was also discussed, ”added the press service of the President of Russia.
Earlier it became known that during the riots in the capital of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Nukus, on July 1 and 2, 18 people died, 243 were injured (94 of them are in hospitals).
On July 1, protests were held in Nukus over the constitutional reform.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan reported that order had been restored in Karakalpakstan, work was underway with the protesters.
The Russian Foreign Ministry urged to resolve any issues in Uzbekistan within the legal framework, and not through street riots.
