The Municipal Police will control the scenes of the Pride festival to avoid crowds, will prevent parking in a large part of the Centro and Moncloa districts during the coming weekend and, for the first time, will enable an emergency lane on Gran Vía. These are the news of the security operation for Madrid Pride, MADO 2022, which is being held this week in the capital.
Every day
there will be 400 agents on the street, which will increase to 500 on Friday and Saturday.
In addition, there will be 100 Samur-Civil Protection troops daily (up to 180 on Saturday), as well as municipal firefighters from two parks.
The objective is to guarantee maximum security and the normal development of the party, as has been done this weekend, when
the ordinary service provided by the Municipal Police in the Central district has been reinforced
, as explained by the Security delegate and Emergencies and spokesperson for the City Council, Inmaculada Sanz.
To favor the intervention of the emergency services,
an emergency lane has been established this year that will run along the Gran Vía
(from Plaza de España to Cibeles).
In this lane, the Madrid Fire Department will deploy troops from two parks (the 2nd and the 6th).
The celebration of the activities of the MADO will take place mostly on public roads, with the main venues being Plaza de Pedro Zerolo, Plaza de Callao and Plaza de España.
The City Council ensures that
there is not a specific capacity for each space or venue,
affirms that the Municipal Police will deploy "teams to carry out filters at the entrances to the venues that host the main events to guarantee their development."
It will also use drones for security tasks and there will be plainclothes agents to prevent theft, assault, drug trafficking and illegal street sales.
