China News Agency, Hong Kong, July 5 (Reporter Zhang Xiaoxi) The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Jiachao, presided over the first regular meeting of the new Executive Council on the 5th.

He met the media before attending the meeting, thanked the 16 unofficial MPs for accepting his invitation, and responded to hot issues such as Hong Kong's housing and the efficiency of civil servants when answering questions from reporters.

When answering a reporter's question, Li Jiachao said that the housing problem has plagued Hong Kong for many years. At present, two working groups have been set up to be responsible for issues related to public housing and coordinating housing construction.

He and the team will go all out, but also be pragmatic, trying to find some new ways to solve the problem.

He also mentioned that the performance of Hong Kong civil servants is directly linked to the efficiency of the SAR government. According to recent international reports, the efficiency of the Hong Kong SAR government ranks at the forefront, but sometimes the performance of civil servants may fall short of the expectations of the public. Good leadership, take the initiative to intervene when problems arise, or better coordinate, I believe that the expected results can be achieved; I also hope to improve the overall management effectiveness and make achievements in implementation.

Regarding the new crown pneumonia epidemic that reporters are concerned about, Li Jiachao said that he has asked the Director of the Medical and Health Bureau of the SAR Government, Lu Chongmao, to review the relevant data, etc., so that Hong Kong can reduce the impact on tourists while curbing the epidemic.

On the same day, before attending the first regular session of the new Executive Council, Li Jiachao met the media together with the three Secretaries of the SAR Government and all 16 non-official members of the Executive Council at the SAR Government Headquarters.

Li Jiachao pointed out that members of the Executive Council play a very important role in the decision-making of the Chief Executive.

Ip Lau Shuk-yee, Convenor of the Executive Council, said that the new Executive Council is very united and has started its work. It is believed that with the concerted efforts of everyone and the leadership of the Chief Executive, Hong Kong will surely perform better.
