The head of the region noted that the EU cannot have any worries regarding transit to the Kaliningrad region.

“It cannot be used to circumvent sanctions,” Alikhanov said.

The governor added that any other statements are "heresy."

Earlier, Alikhanov said that work is underway to resolve the issue of transit to the region.

He also said that if the deadlines announced by the European Union for resolving the issue of transit are not met, the authorities of the region will turn to the country's leadership with a proposal to take retaliatory measures.

On June 17, the Lithuanian Railways notified the Kaliningrad Railways of stopping the transit of a number of sanctioned goods.
