If the Prime Minister is to make her general policy statement this Wednesday, we still do not know if she will comply with the vote of confidence of the deputies.

Elisabeth Borne spent her weekend trying to convince many deputies to support her.

If the bet is risky, it would give it legitimacy in the event of favorable results.

If this week will be decisive for Emmanuel Macron, it will also be for Elisabeth Borne.

The Prime Minister is due to deliver her general policy statement on Wednesday.

But we do not yet know if she will comply with the tradition of the vote of confidence of the deputies.

Convince MPs

This thorny question of the vote of confidence, which must intervene at the end of the declaration of general policy of Elisabeth Borne, has still not been decided.

Emmanuel Macron pushes her to take the risk, and for her part the Prime Minister will only seek trust if she is sure of obtaining it.

But with 250 deputies for the majority, and 327 for the opposition, the equation looks complex.

So Elisabeth Borne spent her weekend trying to convince deputies to support her.

She notably took the temperature on the side of the group Les Républicains.

If she is unlikely to get upvotes, she can at least try to get them to abstain.

Republican tradition

If this vote of confidence is only a republican tradition, seven of his predecessors refused to submit to the vote of the National Assembly in the history of the Fifth Republic.

It could therefore give legitimacy to Elisabeth Borne.

A symbolic confidence to give impetus to her taking office, while since her appointment, the Prime Minister continues to appear as weakened.
