In the western part of Uzbekistan in Central Asia, Uzbekistan officials have revealed that 18 people have died in a clash between civilians and security forces protesting the contents of the constitutional amendment.

In Nukus, a city in western Uzbekistan, civilian protests against the constitutional amendment announced by President Milziyoev last month took place earlier this month.

In some areas of Nukus, some autonomy is allowed, such as having its own constitution, but the proposed constitutional amendment includes content to reduce the authority of the area, according to several Russian media. Thousands of people gathered to protest the contents of the amendment.

Uzbek officials say 18 people were killed and 243 were injured in the protest, as security forces clashed with civilians and some participants were detained.

After entering the field, President Mirjiyoev is trying to calm the situation by showing a policy to withdraw the contents of the amendment regarding the authority of the region.
