Diplomatic moves continue to discuss developments in the Iranian nuclear file. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian called his French counterpart, Catherine Colonna, in which he affirmed Tehran's determination to reach a good agreement.

During the same call, Abdullahian presented his country's assessment of the recent negotiations in Doha, describing them as "positive", but he mentioned that the American side came to the Qatari capital without an approach based on the initiative.

Last Thursday, Washington and the European Union confirmed the end of the indirect round of negotiations between Iran and the United States, which was held in Doha on reviving the 2015 nuclear agreement, without progress.

The negotiations were held last Tuesday and Wednesday in a hotel in the Qatari capital, at the initiative of the European Union, in an effort to break the deadlock in the 11-month rounds of talks that were suspended last March.

The European Negotiations Coordinator, Enrique Mora, was the mediator in this round, while Iran's chief negotiator Ali Bagheri and the US special envoy on Iran Robert Malley sat in separate rooms.

Agreement updates

In a related context, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, discussed in a call with his American counterpart Anthony Blinken the latest developments in the nuclear agreement talks and a number of joint files.

The US State Department said that Blinken discussed, in a call with his Qatari counterpart, the partnership between the two countries and opportunities for cooperation on regional issues.

Blinken thanked his Qatari counterpart for the efforts to help achieve a mutual return to the nuclear agreement, and thanked him for Doha's hosting of the recent indirect talks with Iran.

Before stopping last March, the Vienna negotiations made progress that brought the parties involved in the Iranian nuclear agreement close to completing an agreement, but they reached a dead end due to issues of contention between the Iranians and the Americans, especially with regard to Tehran’s request to remove the name of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard from the list of “organizations.” foreign terrorist" adopted by Washington.

Earlier, Iran's chief negotiator Ali Bagheri said that negotiations to revive the nuclear deal will continue.

Bagheri added in a press statement that he is working with the European coordinator, Enrique Mora, to determine the date and location of the next round of negotiations, and to agree on that in its final stages.
