It's getting worse on the Covid-19 front in Ile-de-France.

The number of positive cases has more than doubled in two weeks, according to the latest figures from Public Health France (SPF).

They went from 51,014 during week 23 (from June 6 to 12), to 118,808 during week 25 (from June 20 to 26).

The positivity rate is also on the rise, rising from 19.5% to 26.2% in nearly three weeks.

"In S25 (week 25), the measured regional crude incidence rate was 968 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and increased for the fourth consecutive week", worries SPF.

In fact, this rate greatly exceeds the maximum rate measured last summer!

Finally, hospitalizations rose from 608 in W23 to 1,055 in W25.

To sum up, we are in the middle of a seventh wave, which started a big month ago.

This is why, recalls SPF “the vaccination (and the recall) of all eligible people remains essential”, given that only four out of five Ile-de-France residents have a complete vaccination schedule.

SPF also warns of “the importance of applying barrier gestures that are always recommended, in particular wearing a mask in transport, large gatherings and in closed and poorly ventilated places.

Otherwise, the summer could well be less festive than expected…
