Blocks of ice sweep down the mountain slopes in a blizzard.

Climbers can also be seen escaping the collapse site with an intermittent difference.

A large glacial mass on the way to the summit from Marmolada, the highest peak of the Dolomites Mountains in northern Italy, at 3,343 meters above sea level, collapsed, leading to a large landslide.

The falling chunks of ice swept the surrounding snow and stones together, smashing the climbers.

A heat wave of over 40 degrees Celsius, which has been hitting Italy for a month, is also blamed for the accident.

[Anna Heraz/Tourist: I think this heat wave is related to climate change.

It wasn't this hot a few years ago, but it's getting worse.] The

local media reported that the disaster occurred one day after the temperature at the top of Marmolada recorded an all-time high of 10 degrees Celsius.
