Reports have emerged that the upcoming Apple Watch Series 8 will come with a body temperature sensor that can tell if you have a fever, according to a report from Bloomberg.

Rather than giving the user an accurate reading when they ask for it, he thinks the watch will be able to detect a rise in body temperature, encouraging you to talk to a doctor or use a thermometer.

The Bloomberg report says the body temperature sensor still has to pass internal testing, and if that happens, Apple is expected to integrate the feature into its upcoming eighth-generation watch, as well as an athlete's smartwatch.

Rumors about the new body temperature sensor have been circulating for more than a year now.

It first appeared in June 2021.

Renowned Apple analyst Meng-Shi Qiu also believes that the sensor will debut later this year.

Previous reports from The Wall Street Journal suggest that a body temperature sensor can also be used to determine when fertilization is most likely, or to predict when you will conceive.

The Bloomberg report only mentioned the fever in its latest report, so it remains unclear how or if Apple plans to add cycle tracking capabilities.

Aside from the body temperature sensor, Gorman says any other changes to the new Apple Watch will "likely be minor," and hints at the potential for improved display on high-end models.

The report predicted that the Series 8 processor will have the same level of performance as the previous S7 and S6 chips, so we likely won't see an upgrade until 2023.

Regarding health tracking features on other upcoming devices, the report says that "a new model of AirPods Pro - which is rumored to focus on fitness - is likely not to arrive this year."
