• LOC They issue a protection order against Ricky Martin for the domestic violence law

Ricky Martin affirmed this Sunday that the accusations of domestic violence and for which he faces a protection order

are "totally false",

and assured that he will face said process "with the responsibility" that characterizes him.

The expressions of the Puerto Rican artist come a day after the Puerto Rico Police confirmed that they are in the process of processing a

protection order issued against the singer

for a complaint under Law 54, which protects victims of domestic violence.

"The protection order filed against me is based on totally false allegations, so I will face the process with the responsibility that characterizes me," Ricky Martin said on his Twitter account.

The interpreter of great musical successes such as "La copa de la vida", "La mordidita", "Livin' la Vida Loca" and "María" added in the message that "because it is an ongoing legal matter" he cannot make "expressions individuals".

At the end of the tweet, the 50-year-old singer and actor thanked "the countless shows of solidarity" and said that he welcomes them with all his heart.

The artist's legal team said Saturday that the allegations of domestic violence are "completely false" after a protection order was issued against him.

"The allegations against Ricky Martin, which lead to a protection order, are completely false," according to a statement from his legal team released by

Perfect Partners,

the singer's public relations firm in Puerto Rico.

"We are confident that when

the true facts come to light

in this matter, our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated," added the brief note.

The court order was issued by Judge

Raiza Cajigas Campbell,

of the Court of First Instance of San Juan, after an ex parte request, the Police reported in a statement.

As it is a case under the Law for the Prevention and Intervention with Domestic Violence, the Puerto Rico Police

does not reveal the name of the petitioning party.

According to the Puerto Rican newspaper

El Vocero

, the order indicates that the parties were related for seven months and separated two years ago, but Ricky Martin has not accepted this separation.

The document alleges that

the artist frequently calls the petitioner and has even loitered around his residence

on at least three occasions, for which "the petitioner fears for his safety."

Enrique Martín Morales, better known as Ricky Martin, has been married since 2017 to the artist of Syrian origin

Jwan Yosef and has four children.

On the other hand, the artist faces a lawsuit in the Central District Court of Los Angeles for more than 3 million dollars by his former representative

Rebecca Druker.
